In order to understand what is going on in Venezuela, you need to watch the 2007 documentary The War on Democracy by John Pilger. Take the time to watch it. John’s excellent documentary overviews the activities of the United States to ensure that there are tame governments in South America, usually totalitarian, in place to serve the interests of American business.

In simple terms, the United States will use whatever means to achieve their ends, although the people have begun to fight back in many cases. Venezuela has been one.
This documentary was made before Chavez died of cancer. He was quoted whilst ill as saying that Fidel Castro had warned him to be very careful of his food, because it was likely the Americans would try and kill him, and there have been others who have documented the frequency of cancer amongst current and recent South American leaders. The technology to readily induce cancer in a target has been in place since the early 60’s, as documented by Judyth Vary Baker. One can only imagine what dastardly biological tools they now have at their disposal.
No doubt America expected that with the death of Chavez, they would be able to bring a tame leader to power. Except the people liked what Chavez was doing and voted in his unwilling chosen successor in Nicolas Maduro.
And now, surprise, surprise, we have uprisings in Venezuela that are being reported in the US press as being the steps taken by the people to rid themselves of this dastardly regime. DON’T BUY IT!!!
Maduro has threatened to expel CNN for their reporting, along with several American officials, and blamed the unrest on the CIA. How unusual that would be. This Guardian article covers it well, also. It seems we have a repeat of 2002. Will they succeed this time? I doubt it. I suspect the people of the barrios will be back if needed.
And the Ukraine is looking very similar, though in this case it’s the old game of Russia vs. the West. Nothing new under the sun.
