Homelessness among New York City residents has been increasing at an alarming rate. This year, poverty in the city has reached its highest levels since the Great Depression. A large number of these impoverished people are children.
Whilst the lamestream media and Wall Street continue to rattle on about the great recovery and a so-called unemployment rate in the US of 5%, anyone who looks at the evidence can see that this number is a farce, and the belly of the American mainstream has been ripped open financially by the carefully engineered GFC of 2008 and the events leading up to it. Indeed, these events were the playing card that has allowed a growing number of employers to pay wages that do not enable those being employed to be able to live what we in the Western world would consider a normal life, and without a fundamental change, these people will never get off the floor again. Nor their children nor their children’s children.
