This statistic and related ones in this article are perhaps not so surprising, given what we know about American food.
What interests me is how powerfully it illustrates what was spoken of in 1969 and then documented in this recording by Dr. Lawrence Dunegan. Dr. Richard Day spoke to the Pittsburgh Paediatric Society of how the quality of food would fall away, though quality food would be available for those who were willing to search it out and pay for it.
It is all planned and the plan is executed.
