Will the Electoral College elect Hillary as President?

Most people think the US Presidential election is over. But it’s not:

The Electoral College is a process, not a place. The founding fathers established it in the Constitution as a compromise between election of the President by a vote in Congress and election of the President by a popular vote of qualified citizens.

The Electoral College process consists of the selection of the electors, the meeting of the electors where they vote for President and Vice President, and the counting of the electoral votes by Congress.

The Electoral College consists of 538 electors. A majority of 270 electoral votes is required to elect the President. Your state’s entitled allotment of electors equals the number of members in its Congressional delegation: one for each member in the House of Representatives plus two for your Senators. Read more about the allocation of electoral votes.

Under the 23rd Amendment of the Constitution, the District of Columbia is allocated 3 electors and treated like a state for purposes of the Electoral College. For this reason, in the following discussion, the word “state” also refers to the District of Columbia.

Each candidate running for President in your state has his or her own group of electors. The electors are generally chosen by the candidate’s political party, but state laws vary on how the electors are selected and what their responsibilities are. Read more about the qualifications of the Electors and restrictions on who the Electors may vote for

…After the presidential election, your governor prepares a “Certificate of Ascertainment” listing all of the candidates who ran for President in your state along with the names of their respective electors. The Certificate of Ascertainment also declares the winning presidential candidate in your state and shows which electors will represent your state at the meeting of the electors in December of the election year. Your state’s Certificates of Ascertainment are sent to the Congress and the National Archives as part of the official records of the presidential election. See the key dates for the 2016 election and information about the roles and responsibilities of state officials, the Office of the Federal Register and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), and the Congress in the Electoral College process.

The meeting of the electors takes place on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December after the presidential election. The electors meet in their respective states, where they cast their votes for President and Vice President on separate ballots. Your state’s electors’ votes are recorded on a “Certificate of Vote,” which is prepared at the meeting by the electors. Your state’s Certificates of Votes are sent to the Congress and the National Archives as part of the official records of the presidential election. See the key dates for the 2016 election and information about the roles and responsibilities of state officials and the Congress in the Electoral College process.

Each state’s electoral votes are counted in a joint session of Congress on the 6th of January in the year following the meeting of the electors. Members of the House and Senate meet in the House chamber to conduct the official tally of electoral votes. See the key dates for the 2016 election and information about the role and responsibilities of Congress in the Electoral College process.

End of quote.

Now, it is very rare that the electors from a given state do not vote in line with the public’s voting choice, but it has happened. And we have the unique situation where many Republicans disavowed support for Trump. So, do we have the game primed for the Electoral College to vote in Hillary? And can you imagine what will happen in the US of A? I anticipate bedlam if that happened. So, is this all a precursor to martial law in the US?

Just musing…

Trump’s About-Face On Clinton Continues

For those expecting something completely different:

Donald Trump’s abrupt turn-about on Hillary Clinton continues, with the real estate mogul and president-elect now saying Clinton is ‘very strong and very smart’ in a new interview with 60 Minutes.

After receiving a congratulatory call from Clinton following his victory, Trump “apparently no longer thinks Clinton is ‘crooked,’” noted the Business Times, detailing the various epithets Trump threw at Hillary during the campaign that are now absent from his rhetoric: crooked, lying, corrupt, nasty, unstable, heartless… even labeling her the co-founder of ISIS alongside Obama.

But now Trump is back to praising the Clintons as ‘very nice’ and ‘talented’ people whom he may seek advice from. In his victory speech Trump venerated Hillary for her “service” to the country, telling his supporters that Americans all owe Hillary a “debt of gratitude.” So Americans are indebted to a ‘crook’ and ‘co-founder of ISIS’ as she helped plunge the country into bankruptcy via foreign interventions.

Before he launched his presidential run, Trump was a noted supporter and good friend of the Clintons who attended his wedding to Melania. In fact, Trump had nothing but good things to say about them and wasn’t shy about boasting of his close ties to them.

The new watered-down rhetoric seems to confirm the suspicions of many that Trump and Clinton were never really enemies, but only superficially so during the stage-play known as the US election. Clinton said in a recent interview that she hopes to resume her friendship with Trump now that they’re not competing anymore.

We can expect Trump will renege on his promise to hire a special prosecutor to put Clinton behind bars. She will quickly embark on a retirement ride into the sunset like all the other Washington criminals, thanks to a system of endemic corruption which includes Donald Trump.

End of quote.

Entirely to be expected. To expect otherwise is to misunderstand the game.

Obama Quietly Signs Executive Order to Advance Global Vaccination Agenda

When there’s brouhaha about this or that, it’s always useful to keep an eye open for what is being done without publicity:

Last Friday, November 4th, Obama quietly signed an Executive Order titled Advancing the Global Health Security Agenda to Achieve a World Safe and Secure from Infectious Disease Threats.

It is the policy of the United States to advance the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA), which is a multi-faceted, multi-country initiative intended to accelerate partner countries’ measurable capabilities to achieve specific targets to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats (GHSA targets), whether naturally occurring, deliberate, or accidental.

So basically, the agenda is to push vaccines and normalize quarantine procedures across nations during outbreaks.

GHSA Immunization Agenda states that participating countries must have….

A functioning national vaccine delivery system—with nationwide reach, effective distributions, access for marginalized populations, adequate cold chain, and ongoing quality control.

At least 90% coverage of the country’s 15-month-old population with at least one dose of measles-containing vaccine.

Some notable “Five Year Action Items” include:

  • Conduct routine immunization activities
  • Implement case-based surveillance
  • Achieve and document vaccination of health care workers

Bill Gates provided the CDC with a surveillance tool that helps identify “district-level measles risk” based on immunization records. (Source is same CDC link as above).

What’s more, the HHS recently proposed giving the CDC the power to detain and quarantine people without due Process.

When an apprehension occurs, the individual is not free to leave or discontinue his/her discussion with an HHS/CDC public health or quarantine officer.

…the proposed practice to issue Federal orders before a medical examination has taken place.

CDC defines pre-communicable stage to mean the stage beginning upon an individual’s earliest opportunity for exposure to an infectious agent.

CDC may enter into an agreement with an individual, upon such terms as the CDC considers to be reasonably necessary, indicating that the individual consents to any of the public health measures authorized under this part, including quarantine, isolation, conditional release, medical examination, hospitalization, vaccination, and treatment: provided that the individual’s consent shall not be considered as a prerequisite to any exercise of any authority under this part.

…individuals who violate the terms of the agreement or the terms of the Federal order for quarantine, isolation, or conditional release (even if no agreement is in place between the individual and the government), he or she may be subject to criminal penalties.

The source of all quotes above is the official proposed rule for the Control of Communicable Diseases by Health & Human Services (HHS).
