How a Small Taiwanese Software Company Can Impact the Security of Millions of Devices Worldwide

If you read this article, you will realise that the notion of secure networking services on the Internet is a myth, unless you take very specific and informed steps to protect yourself.

In simple terms, a small piece of software that is re-used by many suppliers for consumer networking devices in particular is easily triggered to fail, and it is unlikely that this will ever be patched in most of these devices, including some yet to make it to market.

This is far from the first example of this I’ve seen, and who knows how many more there are “in the wild”.

The smart guys at NSA and their equivalents will simply drive a truck through these bugs, and in most cases nothing will be done to stop them.

At least the exposures of Ed Snowden intensified the efforts to look for these things.
